Texan Senator Ted Cruz will appear Sunday at a lunchtime rally at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex supporting U.S. Senate hopeful Dan Sullivan.
Thomas Reiker with the Sullivan Campaign spoke about Sunday’s Rally.
Reiker: “First and foremost it’s a get out the vote rally, both Dan and Senator Cruz believe that it’s extremely important to take back the state of Alaska’s values and also take back the majority in the U.S. Senate so that we can make progress on issues that are important to Alaska like energy, like healthcare, like local control of education and our resources and powering our small businesses to create good jobs across Alaska.”
Presidential Candidate and Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney will appear Monday in Anchorage who is also backing Sullivan.
The Sullivan for Senate campaign is receiving national attention as Republicans see states like Alaska as key to seizing control of the U.S. Senate.
Sullivan’s rival, incumbent Mark Begich, calls the move “desperate,” saying Romney and Cruz reached out to the campaign and offered support in the closing days of the race.
During the primary, Sullivan said he would join with the likes of Cruz, a Tea Party favorite, and others in pushing for more limited government.
