Dallas Seavey Races To Fifth Iditarod Championship

For a record-tying, fifth Iditarod Sled Dog Race, Dallas Seavey crosses the finish line in the #1 position; this year at Deshka Landing, the other four under the burled arch in Nome.

 

Dallas becomes the second five-time champion joining Rick Swenson in the five championships club.  Dallas first won in 2012 and now owns five victories in the span of ten years.

 

Dallas Seavey was the first to cross the finish line at Deshka Landing at 5:08.57 a.m. on Monday, March 15th, completing the final 67 mile leg of the race from Skwentna in 8 hours and 24 minutes averaging just under 8 miles-per-hour.  Dallas completed the approximately 848 mile course in 7 days, 14 hours, 8 minutes and 57 seconds.
