Department Of Natural Resources Receives Hilcorp Application To Expand Ninilchik Unit

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, through the Division of Oil and Gas has given notice of a Hilcorp Alaska application to expand its operation in the Ninilchik Unit (NKU) area. The application also includes a proposal to form the Pearl Participating Area.

 

The NKU is located between Clam Gulch and Ninilchik, and the proposed expansion area is at the southernmost point of the Unit.

 

Hilcorp Alaska, LLC (Hilcorp), the NKU operator, filed an application with the Division to expand the NKU on September 23, 2022. The application was deemed complete on March 2, 2023.

 

The proposed Unit expansion area will unitize all or portions of one additional State Lease, which is approximately 1,800 (1,118.35) acres. The proposal also includes various private mineral interests and leases along with the additional State Lease, for a total of just over 1,200 acres.

 

Hilcorp owns 100% working interest in the proposed lease area.

 

Proposed expansion of the NKU, if approved, would total approximately 20,000 acres.

 

Any person may file written comments on the application. Comments must be received by 4:30 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2023, and should be mailed to the Division of Oil and Gas, attention Ken Diemer, Unit Manager, or emailed to the Department of Oil and Gas.

 

The Department will consider all timely written comments and evaluate the application.

 

After the close of the comment period, the Department will issue a written decision to approve or deny the unit expansion application.
