The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports three deaths recently of Anchorage male residents. Two were in their 70s and one was in his 60s. In addition, there were 184 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized with 15 additional patients who are considered persons under investigation for a total of 199 current COVID-related hospitalizations. 35 are currently on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 16.3%.
That data release Wednesday also includes 867 COVID-19 cases, including 857 resident and 10 nonresident cases. Several cases were identified across the Kenai Peninsula including 43 in Soldotna, 37 in Kenai, 11 in Homer, 7 in Sterling, 4 in Kenai Peninsula Borough North, 3 in Seward, 1 in Anchor Point, and 1 in Nikiski. In addition, one of the nonresident cases were identified in Kenai.
The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 839.5. For boroughs and census areas: all 28 areas are at the high alert level, including the Kenai Peninsula Region.
63.6% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 58.4% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 49% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are considered fully vaccinated.
