DHSS Reports Over 800 Cases, 3 New Deaths And 194 Hospitalizations Tuesday

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 871 new COVID-19 cases, 3 additional deaths and 194 hospitalizations in the data update on Tuesday. That number includes 835 resident and 36 nonresident cases. Across the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai reported 28 new cases, Soldotna with 15, Homer 5, Seward 3, Kenai Peninsula Borough North 1, and Sterling 1. In addition, Kenai reported one new nonresident case.

 

Monday, there were 12 new resident hospitalizations and three recent Alaska resident deaths reported. The individuals who died were:

 

There are currently 194 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and 14 additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 208 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Thirty-seven of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 17.4%.

 

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 855.12. For boroughs and census areas: all 28 areas are at the high alert level, including the Kenai Peninsula Region.

 

63.5% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have received their first vaccine dose. 58.3% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 48.9% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are considered fully vaccinated.
