DHSS Reports Under 200 COVID-19 Cases & 2 Deaths In Tuesday Data Update.

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 2 new deaths and less than 200 new daily COVID-19 cases in the COVID data update on Tuesday, an indication that COVID-19 is slowing down across the state. The case count includes 147 resident cases and 5 nonresident cases totaling 152 COVID-19 cases. Across the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai reported 3 cases, Homer 2, Anchor Point 1, and Soldotna 1. In addition, Homer reported 1 nonresident case.

 

The Alaska residents who died were identified as a female resident of Anchorage in her 70s and a male resident of Anchorage in his 60s. There are currently 102 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and six additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 108 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Fourteen of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.2%.

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 319.1.  For boroughs and census areas: 23 areas are at the high alert level.

 

61% of Alaskans aged 5 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 55% of Alaskans aged 5 and older have been fully vaccinated. 46% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are fully vaccinated.
