The Anchorage School District Superintendent Deena Bishop has suspended all football activities at A.J Dimond High School, for at least this week, in light of allegations of sexual misconduct and hazing involving Dimond football players.

In an email release, Superintendent Bishop, after hearing of the allegations on Monday and beginning  investigation, stated “For this reason, I am suspending the DHS football program this week, including all practices, team activities, and games.  A decision about the remainder of the season will be made pending further review.”

Bishop issued an additional written statement Wednesday saying “we are working with the Anchorage Police Department to investigate. We have zero tolerance for any inappropriate behavior. Until our investigation is complete, I have no further comment. Student safety is always our number one concern.”

According to school officials (and charges by Dimond football parents) the incidents under investigation happened last weekend on a Dimond football trip to Fairbanks to play Lathrop High School.  The team was housed at Lathrop High School.

ASD is cooperating with a criminal investigation by the Anchorage Police Department.

The Dimond football contest scheduled for Friday against Colony High School will be forfeited to the Colony Knights.
