Next week the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is inviting all parts of the community to get involved with next year’s budget cycle.
District Spokeswoman Pegge Erkeneff…
Erkeneff: “We have a multi-million dollar budget and we’re looking at how we can craft that in response to the fiscal reality that’s impacting all aspects of state government right now. And we want feedback and creative ideas, and actual feedback that says what do you think should be reduced and what should be expanded and what suggestions do you have for how we can fund the shortfalls that we’re looking at, what really matters and what doesn’t.”
On Monday the School Board approved its state and federal legislative priorities.
The requests for the Alaska Legislature include investigating how to control the annual increase in health care costs and a reconsideration for the state’s bond reimbursement program moratorium so the district can move ahead with needed facility maintenance.
The federal legislative priorities include a request examination of the Affordable Care Act’s ‘Cadillac Tax’ and the possibility of regional cost differential. Find those full lists of priorities by clicking here.
There will be 23 sites across the Kenai Peninsula for people to weigh-in via video conferencing.
The district-wide budget discussion will take place Thursday, October 15, 2015, 6:00 p.m.
