District Using ‘Key Communicators’ to Improve Community Engagement

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is working to engage local communities via a series of Key Communicators meetings.

 

District Superintendent Sean Dusek says they hope it improves communication.

Dusek: “Get more involved in conversations and issues facing public education and we all know with our budget situation that this is an important topic.”

 

‘Key Communicators’ are parents, teachers, and members of the public chosen to review the releases by the district and engage other community members in conversations.

 

The idea was formed in 2014 as an effort to increase positive conversations about local schools, answer questions, and address any possible misconceptions.

Tonight’s meeting will occur between Key Communicators, district leadership, school board members, and any interested school staff at the Soldotna High School Library from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
