Kenai and Soldotna hockey teams had planned to step away from Division II hockey competition and test their teams against Anchorage opponents representing Division I hockey.
That will not happen!
The Anchorage School District is not allowing any of their teams to travel to the Peninsula this weekend due to concerns with travel and road conditions on the Seward Highway. Therefore, the Kardinals, Stars and Homer Mariners will not face Dimond, Bartlett and Chugiak on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
According to Kyle McFall, SoHi athletic director, Kenai, Homer, and Soldotna are trying to work out a schedule to get kids on the ice.
Following this weekend, only two weeks remain in the hockey regular season. Kenai has two remaining conference games on their schedule; SoHi has four remaining conference contests in the final two weeks, including a showdown with Kenai.
