Division II & Diivsion III Football Playoff Pairing Set

The 2021 high school football season, having closed the regular season, advances to the playoffs with Division II and Division III qualifying four teams each into the playoff semi-finals scheduled for October 8th and 9th.

 

Division II Football Playoffs

The Soldotna Stars, undefeated in the Northern Lights Conference, will host the North Pole Patriots, #2 in the Railbelt Conference, in one of two semi-final playoff games for Division II football.

The Stars vs Patriots game is scheduled for Friday, October 8th at Soldotna High School.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.

SoHi completed conference play with a 4-0 record; North Pole finished Railbelt play at 2-1, with the North Pole vs Lathrop game cancelled on Friday.

Lathrop earns the #1 seed from the Railbelt with a 2-0 conference record.  Eagle River, 3-1 in NLC, will play Lathrop in a semi-final game in Fairbanks.

Division II State Facts:

The 2020 Soldotna Stars were undefeated and scheduled to play in the ASAA Division II state championship game when the football season was suspended.

The Stars have won eight-straight Division II football state championships from 2012-2019.

 

Division III Football Playoffs

The Kenai Kardinals earn the #3 seed from the Mid Alaska Conference with a 1-2 record against conference opponents.

Kenai will travel to Redington High School to play the undefeated Huskies on Friday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m.  

The #2 Mid Alaska seed Houston will travel to Fairbanks to play the Denali Conference #1 Monroe Rams.

 

The SoHi and Kenai playoff games will be broadcast live on ESPN 1140AM and streamed live at radiokenai.com on Friday, October 8th beginning with the Sweeney’s Pregame Show at 3:45 p.m.
