Author: KSRM News Desk |

Cooking a Thanksgiving dinner can be an all day affair which requires all day attention in order to be safe.

Brad Nelson with CES reminds everyone that unattended cooking fires are one of Alaska’s leading causes of residential fires.

Nelson: “One: please don’t leave your cooking unattended. And two: make sure that your smoke alarms are working, test them once a month and change out those batteries twice a year.”

According to the State Fire Marshall’s office almost 75% of the state’s total reported residential structure fires are caused by cooking and heating-related incidents.
