The Department of Transportation is conducting emergency rock fall mitigation on the Seward Highway from MP 108 to 110.  Work is expected to begin Saturday, March 7 through Monday, March 30.

Crews will be working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.  Drivers should expect one-way traffic with flagging operations.

Shannon McCarthy, of the Alaska Department of Transportation: “We’re starting the emergency road project this Saturday. We’re addressing two sites: one at MP 110 and one at MP 108. These are areas that our team has determined were disturbed during the earthquake and need to be bolted down. So, they’re going to be out there doing some rock bolting. We are going to have some lane closures between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.  We will try to keep those very short and keep traffic moving, but we just ask for the public’s patience.”
