The Sterling Highway MP 45-60 team is offering engineering design updates, as well as news about what’s next for the project. Their fall meeting will be held virtually, as well as an online open house.

In an online release, the Alaska Department of Transportation noted that the meeting presentation and handouts will be available for viewing at everyone’s own individual pace, with questions being submitted through an online open house.

The online public meeting’s availability begins on October 22, being available until November 5.

There will also be questions answered via a live online chat on October 27 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, there will be scheduled in-person question-and-answer sessions with project team members. Face masks will be required. 20-minute time slots will be reserved by visiting the team online.

Shannon McCarthy with the Alaska Department of Transportation has said that the project is making big strides, but is still far from impacting the daily drive of Alaskans: “Obviously, it will take several years before we get to construction that has impacts to drivers, but we’re making lots of great progress and doing this new section of road – preparing it for construction.”
