Starting Monday, Apr. 22, the Seward Highway between MP 17-22.5 will be fully closed in both directions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 8 PM to 9 PM. These closures are expected to last approximately two weeks.
The work is a continuation of the Seward Highway MP 17-22.5 Rehabilitation project that began last year.
In a social media post, the DOT expressed its appreciation for travelers’ understanding as it works to improve the highway and provided an estimate of when the work will conclude. “Thank you for your patience—we are expecting this project will be complete at the end of the 2024 season.”
This summer, the Seward Highway rehabilitation work includes several improvements, some of which go beyond the road itself. Crews will construct a pedestrian and nonmotorized bridge over the Snow River and grade, pave, sign, and strip the highway.
