Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign Stats

This year’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is over and the Alaska State Troopers compiled statistics from the high visibility enforcement effort.

 

Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said additional funding was granted for the campaign.

Peters: “We were able to have more of our troopers on duty at once and they were specifically out targeting impaired drivers. With out regular patrols we only have a certain about of people that are normally on duty at any given time depending on where you are in the state and what this driver sober or get pulled over campaign did was it allowed us to use overtime hours pull from more pools of troopers and essentially have our guys on duty longer, bring them in at different time periods so we did have more people seeing us on the roadway because we had more troopers on the roadway during the campaign.”

 

The traffic citations issued by Troopers and incidents to which Troopers responded equaled out to:

  • 66 misdemeanor DUI arrests, 8 felony DUI Arrests
  • 83 drivers charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
  • 735 additional drivers contacted who were reported as REDDI reports and ultimately determined not to be DUI
  • 111 damage only crashes, 23  injury crashes and 1* fatal collision were investigated by troopers
  • Of the 2,927 citations issued, 1,322 were issued for speeding and 343 were issued for seatbelt or other occupant restraint violations

 

Although the campaign is over, troopers remain vigilant against impaired drivers.
