Drivers traveling from the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage should give themselves an extra 30 minutes to an hour to get through constructions projects.
Shannon McCarthy with the Department of Transportation said there are two projects on the Seward Highway from milepost 50 to milepost 75.
McCarthy: “So they butt up right against each other and the public probably doesn’t realize that they’re two [projects].”
There is another project near the Bird Creek area…
McCarthy: “Mile 99 to 100 improvements and it’s rehabilitating the pavement along that stretch of road and actually widening the highway for a passing lane for the northbound traffic.”
These are just a few of the ongoing projects.
McCarthy said Alaskans should keep in mind that this construction season has the most amount of projects that the state has seen in over a decade.
