In the U.S. Congressional race, Forrest Dunbar (D) has conceded to incumbent Don Young(R).

Dunbar issued a statement saying that while their campaign team realizes “thousands of absentee and early ballots remain outstanding” however those numbers are not sufficient enough to change the race outcome.

Dunbar stated: “I would like to congratulate Don on being reelected as Alaska’s Congressman in the U.S. House or Representatives. He closed out the campaign well, and did a good job in his final two debates. I hope that the Don Young of the past two weeks or so is the Don Young Alaska will have representing us in the U.S. House for the next two years: polite, on-point, prepared, even friendly.”

With 100% of precincts reporting this morning, Dunbar had received 40.39%, or 90,534 Alaskan votes, versus Young’s 51.69%

Dunbar’s campaign stated that while he has not ruled out running for the Congressional seat again in 2016, he will not make a definitive announcement during the remainder of 2014.

This will be Young’s 22nd term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
