The Cook Inlet Academy co-ed soccer team closed play at the Borealis Conference Soccer Championships with a 3rd-place game loss on Saturday.
The Eagles fell to Wasilla Lake Christian on Saturday 3-2 to finish tournament play at 2-2 and in 4th place. CIA entered the tournament undefeated against conference teams and 15-1 on the season.
Saturday Elimination Game
On Saturday, the Eagles defeated Tri-Valley 3-2 on penalty kicks to advance to the third-place contest. Sophie Nelson, Jiabao Leaf and James Anderson scoring penalty kicks; Lucas Cragg recording victory in goal.
Third Place Game: Wasilla Lake 3 – CIA 2
The CIA Eagles built a 2-0 lead in the 3rd-place game’s first half; however, failed to score in the second half while allowing three, unanswered goals to Wasilla Lake in the second half. Adara Warren and Hunter Moos scored for the Eagles.
