The Cook Inlet Academy Eagle girls, again unable to hold a double-digit lead, fell to the Buckland Sissauni 53-47 in the ASAA 1A Girls 3rd Place Game at the basketball state championships in Anchorage.

The Eagle girls managed to build an 11-point lead in the first quarter 18-7 over Buckland and held a 25-20 lead at the half. The Sissauni rallied with an 18-point, third quarter as CIA’s senior Tatam Rozak was sidelined with four fouls. Trailing by three to open the fourth quarter, Cook Inlet could never regain the lead and the Sissauni take the third-place game 53-47.
Tatum Rozak topped the Eagles with 20 points. Ava Jones lead Buckland with 23 points.
The CIA girls finish tournament play in 5th Place with a record of 2-2.
