A Saturday morning apartment fire was reported in Kenai.
Chief Roy Browning reports that Central Emergency Services (CES) was dispatched at 4:32 a.m. to a four-plex at Onslow Ave, off of K-Beach Rd. The first CES Engine arrived on scene and reported heavy fire in the lower unit, with fire extending in to the upper apartment of the building.
Kenai and Nikiski Fire Departments also responded as mutual-aid.
One unidentified person was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital by fire medics for evaluation after escaping the fire from the second floor window.
The fire was brought under control within approximately an hour after arrival. Fire damage was throughout the two apartments, and above attic.
There were a total of 24 firefighters on scene. CES, Alaska State Troopers, and the State Fire Marshal’s office remained on scene for investigation.
CES would like to remind everyone to check their smoke alarms to make sure they are working and practice fire exit plans.
