The East High Thunderbirds completed an undefeated run through Alaska opponents with a 35-6 victory over the West High Eagles in the ASAA First National Bowl Division I Football Championship, Friday night at the Anchorage Football Stadium.
The Thunderbirds opened the scoring mid-way through the first quarter and pulled-away with a 21-point second quarter. East won its second Division II state championship in three years defeating a West Anchorage team which has appeared in six-straight title games; winning in 2013 and 2015.
The high school football season closes on Saturday, October 20th with the annual Al Aska Shriners Classic Senior Game scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Anchorage Dome.
