The National Weather Service has issued an urgent winter weather message warning travelers of severe winter weather coming from the east and possibly making driving along Turnagain Arm difficult.
The storm will be seen on the eastern Kenai Peninsula, impacting communities like Seward and Whittier, around 6:00 pm Sunday evening.
Around midnight the blizzard will reach its peak, bringing three to six inches of snow to areas of the Turnagain Arm and Girdwood along with 25 to 40 mph winds and significantly reduced visibility.
The storm is expected to die down around 6:00 am Monday morning.
Drivers traveling in the areas mentioned are encouraged to carry winter gear and water in their vehicles.
