Election Day Information & Polling Locations 2024

Tuesday is General Election Day across the Kenai Peninsula and the State of Alaska. Voters will take to the polls to vote for the races that affect them at the state and federal level.

Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Voters will decide on the U.S. President, United States House of Representative, State Senate, State Representative, Ballot Proposition 1, and Ballot Proposition 2. Court of Appeals and District Superior Judges are also on this year’s ballot.

For the November General Election, Ranked Choice Voting will be in effect. Ranked Choice Voting allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference. In the 2020 general election, voters approved an initiative to establish a Ranked Choice Voting general election system.

In each race, voters will rank their choices in order of preference. Votes are counted in rounds.

The Division counts all 1st choices. If a candidate gets 50% + 1 vote in round one, that candidate wins, and the counting stops. If not, counting goes to Round Two. The candidate with the fewest votes gets eliminated. If you vote for that candidate, your vote goes to your next choice, and you still have a say in who wins. If your first-choice candidate was not eliminated, your vote stays with them. Votes are counted again.

According to the Division of Elections, Ranked Choice Voting results will not be available until November 23, 2022, once all eligible ballots have been reviewed and counted.
