If you are looking to recycle some old electronics, Re-Group of the Kenai Peninsula is hosting a free electronics recycling event tomorrow, November 15th.
Lisa Berenek with the recycling group said old appliances, cell phones and other electronicswill be taken at the Saturday event at the Central Peninsula Transfer Center…
Berenek: “Re-Group is working in partnership with the Kenai Peninsula Borough Solid Waste Department again this year to do an electronics recycling event on November 15th. We’re pretty excited about it. Last year, we were pretty successful as far as the amount of electronics that were brought in from households, we had over 20,000lbs of electronics that were kept out of our local landfill and that was due in large part to a financial sponsorship through XTO Energy.”
Berenek said the benefits aren’t just in saving space…
Berenek: “Those items can sometimes have contaminants in them that we want to make sure are handled properly for the safety of our coworkers, our families, but also our environment.”
Businesses wishing to participate are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 252-2773. Not all items will be free that day, old televisions can be recycled for 18 cents per pound and computer monitors will cost $15 each.
