Emma’s Run Raises $1,500 and Counting

Volunteers and participants cheered as each runner crossed the finish line in Saturday’s Emma’s Run for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Emma Mullet began the annual run last year after donating to the St. Jude Radiothon and finding there were no Alaskan runs which coincided with the national St. Jude run day.

Mullet: “There were none in Alaska which surprised me because we have dog runs, skiers but no St. Jude’s runs. So my sister actually gave me the idea to start a run, I was just thinking we could do more radiothons to raise more money but she said a run might raise more money and get people active.”

The 5k traveled behind the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, down along the beach, , through Kenai Municipal Park, and back to the visitors center via the highway.

Afterwards, Emma made announcements while participants warmed up with coffee and snacks.

Mullet: “We have raised about $1,500 so far [Cheering] and we still have some more places to pick up some envelopes and you still have a week to donate so spread the word and the facebook page is Emma’s Run for St. Jude.

Mullet hopes to raise $2,000 before the week is up.
