Wednesday May 21 marks the last day of school for Kenai Peninsula School District students, and this week is Teacher Appreciation Week.

Superintendent Dr. Steve Atwater reminded everyone.

Dr. Atwater: “This is teacher appreciation week and I want to encourage everyone to take a moment to say thank you for our wonderful teachers that we have they do an excellent job so take a second to say thank you.”

The end of the school year also signals retirement for some teachers.

Dr. Atwater: “On Wednesday afternoon we’ll be having our interviews for assistant principal, as you may have heard, Mr. (James)Beeson has retired, a big change for that school, a big loss for the school district and we’ll be holding those interviews on Wednesday afternoon at 4 to find a replacement for him.”

Dr. Atwater also mentioned a choir pop concert at 6 pm Tuesday night in regard to Renee Henderson retiring from the Kenai Central High School.
