Recently ENSTAR Natural Gas Company requested to go back to annual gas cost adjustments vs. quarterly.
John Sims with ENSTAR explained why.
Sims: “One of the pieces of feedback that we received from customers was they didn’t like the fluctuations on a quarterly basis, one way to resolve that issue is to have annual adjustments so based on customer feedback we decided to go back to annual. Whether you pay it on a quarterly adjustments or annual adjustments customers will still be paying the same amount of gas but they’re able to plan and budget a little more efficiently.”
As of October 1 ENSTAR adjusted its Gas Cost Adjustment for its fourth quarter which saw a decrease in costs.
Sims: “We filed and it has been approved for a decrease in the cost of gas going from 767 per hundred cubic feet down to about 715 per cubic feet or about $.71 per cubic feet so it’s about a 7% decrease which equates to about a $9.00 difference when you compare it to third quarter rates.”
He said that decrease in rates is based on contracts with local providers in the Cook Inlet.
