UPDATE: Seward Highway Open Through Turnagain Pass

UPDATE 2/20 – 4:04 p.m. 

According to the Alaska Department of Transportation the Seward Highway is OPEN through Turnagain Pass MP 38-78 at of 4:04 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

 

 

UPDATE 2/20 – 2:22 p.m.

CORRECTION: According to the Alaska State Troopers the Seward Highway has NOT reopened and remains closed between MP 56-74. The alert states that the highway is anticipated to reopen at 5 p.m.

 

UPDATE 2/20 – 1:43 p.m.

The Seward Highway has reopened between MP 56-74. Currently there is one lane open in each direction, according to the Department of Transportation.

 

UPDATE 2/20 – 9 a.m.

Turnagain Pass is closed from MP 38-75 (the Wye to Ingram Creek) due to significant new snowfall.  According to the Department of Transportation, the Seward Highway through Turnagain Pass is closed until plow operators can clear the roadways.

The Department of Transportation Maintenance Department will be working on avalanche mitigation on Thursday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. According to DOT, expect delays of up to 45 minutes.

 

Drivers should expect delays and closures on the Seward Highway at Turnagain Pass is closed MP 38-75 (the Wye to Ingram Creek).
