Explore Fairbanks proudly presents its latest destination marketing video that invites visitors to discover the year-round wonders of the Fairbanks area. The video showcases the region’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and thriving arts community that define Fairbanks including Denali, the Arctic and Interior Alaska.
Using beautiful and compelling imagery, the video is designed to help inspire a person to want to explore Fairbanks. It showcases the qualities that set Fairbanks apart from other destinations in Alaska, the Lower 48 and the world including Fairbanks’ three distinct seasons – Aurora Season, Midnight Sun Season and Winter Season. It also features a variety of activities, attractions, tours, transportation options and culinary delights that make Fairbanks a destination like no other.
According to the Director of Communications for Explore Fairbanks Kasey Gillam, the last time they created a video like this was back in 2014, and it have “aged beautify.” But after nine years, she believed it was time for an update. There was a plan to originally redo the video in 2020, but to to the pandemic, it wasn’t possible.
“The pandemic happened and budgets were cut and projects had to be cut from the list of options. The video was one of the first ones to go.”
But now that funding is back, the group was able to recruit some videographers to come during winter and summer to capture footage for both seasons, and piece together a really compelling video.
“It’s really exciting to have new products out there that we can feature and to showcase and really just help entice a visitor to want to be able to come to Fairbanks and make this their destination for their vacation.”
Gillam says that the one thing that really set this video apart from everything else was the aunt of drone footage they were able to get. It shows the landscaping in a way that wasn’t present in the last video.
Overall, Gillam says that the whole point of the video is to inspire visitors to come to Fairbanks, and she feels it did just that.
“Our mission is to promote Fairbanks as a destination to pretty much the rest of the world. You know, I know that that kind of sounds like I said earlier, maybe a little cheesy to say, but that’s really what we try to do.”
