Greg Wolf , Executive Director of the World Trade Center Alaska, says it will be a few years before a final decision is made on the AK LNG Project, but the pipeline and liquefaction plant would play a major role in Alaska’s export industry and overall economy…
Wolf: “Keep in mind I don’t think they’re really worried about today’s prices, whether it’s oil or gas, because it would be probably 10 years before any gas would flow from that project, so they’re looking out much longer term, seeking out long term purchase agreements and those types of things.”
Wolf said exports drive the state’s economy, supplying 15,000 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs.

Seafood: Seafood is Alaska’s premier exports, making up 49% of Alaska’s exports.
Wolf: “The world is discovering day by day the healthy aspects, the very positive aspects of our wild-caught fish.”
Coal: Alaska produces 17% of the world’s coal, with just one operating coal mine. Wolf said coal is predominant source of power for many companies, though it’s relatively unpopular in the United States.
