Failure To Stop Leads To Nikiski Arrest Without Bail

39-year-old Carl Derrek Northam of Soldotna was arrested Sunday night in Nikiski.

Alaska State Troopers attempted to stop a black 2001 Volkswagen for traffic violations. A short pursuit ensued before the vehicle crashed into a ditch.

The driver was identified as Northam, who was tracked on foot and found hiding in the woods nearby. He was found to have a revoked driver’s license from multiple Felony DUI offenses and an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to remand, the original charges being 3rd degree misconduct involving weapons and 4th degree assault.

He was arrested and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility for 1st degree failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, driving wile license revoked and the warrant.

Northam was held without bail pending arraignment on the new charges while the outstanding warrant required 360 days incarceration to serve.
