On Saturday, friends and family of Anesha “Duffy” Murnane, a missing Homer woman, will hold a candlelight vigil for her from noon to 2 p.m. at WKFL Park.
Murnane has been missing since October 17 after she was last seen in a security camera image leaving her Main Street apartment. Homer Police and Alaska State Troopers issued a Silver Alert on October 19 after she was reported missing that day. A Silver Alert is for an adult considered a vulnerable person.
Her friends and family have not been shy about their belief that she was abducted, despite police not being able to officially name a cause of her disappearance. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her return. The case is also listed actively on the Peninsula Crime Stoppers website.
Christina Whiting, administrator the Bring Duffy Home Facebook group: “There’s no resolution – she hasn’t been found, one way or the other. So, it’s difficult for the community, the family, the friends, to move on. We’re all in kind of a holding pattern. I just think it’s Homer: we’re a small community, it’s a tight-knit community, whether you knew her or not. Whether you know her family or not, she’s one of us. Many people won’t come, but many people are sharing the posts, many people will light a candle at home, people have donated money, people are sharing the flyers. I think it’s really important that people keep talking about her.”
Anyone with information on her whereabouts can call Homer Police at 907-235-3150 or the Silver Alert hotline at 855-745-8799.
