Fatal Collision Closes Mile 108.5 Seward Highway Near Rainbow Trailhead; Both Lanes Opened

A fatal traffic accident closed down the Seward Highway at mile 108.5, located near Rainbow Creek and the Rainbow Trailhead. It was reported just after midnight this morning (Thursday, June 30, 2022).

 

A preliminary investigation reveals that that a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on the Seward Highway when it collided with a Ford F150 traveling northbound. The driver of the Toyota Corolla was declared deceased at the scene, he was identified as a juvenile male and, as a result, his name won’t be released due to him being a minor. The Ford F150’s driver was an adult male who had an adult female passenger and three juvenile passengers. All were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

According to AK511, both lanes of the highway have been reopened.
