Over The Labor Day weekend, Central Emergency Services held their annual Fill The Boot fundraiser at the Fred Meyer parking lot in Soldotna.

We spoke with CES Chief Roy Browning about the annual event.

Chief Browning: “Every year across the nation, international firefighters had made an obligation to Jerry Lewis and the MDA telethon. Historically the firefighters go out and raise money for MDA and they also raise money for the burns camps for the children.”

This year CES was able to raise…

Chief Browning: “$15,410.00 put into the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the MDA.”

Every year Firefighters volunteer their free time for the event and not just locally.

Chief Browning: “In Anchorage they do, in Fairbanks they do, as well as Juneau.”

Fill the boot will have their next fundraiser in 2016.
