It’s a sad day at Cooper Landing Emergency Services as they announced the resignation of Fire Chief, Riley Shurtleff, who has accepted an emergency management-related position in his home state of New York.
A social media post from Cooper Landing Emergency Services writes, “Riley has been a tremendous asset to CLES over the last several years and has aided the organization in growing leaps and bounds. Today (Thursday) is his last day at CLES and he will be departing Cooper Landing at the beginning of October. We want to thank Riley for all his accomplishments and oversight while at CLES. We wish him the very best in his new endeavors and hope our paths cross again soon.”
Dan Osborn will assume the Fire Chief position at Cooper Landing Emergency Services. He has been a CLES member for over 10 years in addition to working full-time for the U.S. forestry service and has been in that position for more than 20 years. Additionally, Clay Adam will continue as the EMS chief.
“Dan brings a wealth of experience to his new position,” adds the CLES social media post.
Former Chief Shurtleff donated an old Ford Bronco that was used for training Tuesday evening. Newly appointed Chief Osborn lead the team through training exercises on extrication principles and practices on the old vehicle.
A potluck was also held sending the former chief off where members of the Cooper Landing community thanked him for his years of service.
