An annual summer music festival in Ninilchik has undergone a name and mission change.

The festival formerly known as Salmonstock, which was organized by the Renewable Resources Foundation, is now Salmonfest put on by the Kachemak Bay Conservation Society.

Society Board Member Lisa Mooy said Renewable Resources was created as a non-profit against Pebble Mine and felt like their mission was accomplished…

She said the Kachemak Bay Conservation Society changed the festival’s mission to a more statewide topic.

The headliner of the event is Emmylou Harris, who will make her first Alaskan appearance in over 10 years accompanied by Rodney Crowell on Sunday.

Mooy that’s not the only concert to be excited about.

The festival has more vendors and a bigger musical lineup than previous years according to Mooy.
