Three fishing crewmen were rescued from a tender en route from Seward after the vessel caught fire yesterday afternoon.
The 82 foot fishing tender Northern Pride was headed northeast from Marmot Island on Tuesday when the fire forced them to abandon ship.
The Coast Guard stated the three on board issued a mayday before they donned survival suits and launched the life raft.
In a release from the Coast guard, Northern Pride skipper Scott Beckstrom said the fire on board was too smoky to combat.
Thanks to a good Samaritan vessel the mayday was relayed to the Coast Guard who arrived in a helicopter within 30 minutes and hoisted them from the life raft.
