President Barack Obama experienced an Alaska-life moment during his afternoon in the isolated fishing village of Dillingham today.

After walking to a local beach to meet with local fisher women he was handed a large salmon that proceeded to spawn on the president’s shoes.

Obama reacted by saying the fish was “happy to see me.”

While in Dillingham he also attended a cultural performance put on at a local school.

Students in traditional headdresses danced and chanted in Yup’ik.

Obama joined the students for the last dance, saying, “I’ve been practicing.”

He continued to promote the importance of environmental protection throughout his visit to Dillingham, stating Bristol Bay is “one of the most important natural resources the United States has.”
