The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Flood Watch for a portion of the Anchor River, near the Old Sterling highway bridge, through Friday evening.
A Flood Watch has been issued for Anchor River due to snowmelt and the potential for ice jam flooding. Recent warm temperatures combined with rain have triggered a rise in the Anchor River over the past two days downstream from the Sterling Highway.
River gage readings this afternoon indicate a possible ice jam in place along the lower reach near the Old Sterling highway bridge based on recent river gage readings.
Residents should be prepared for minor flooding along Anchor Point Road downstream from the Old Sterling Highway.
