The second week of the regular season for high school football will feature road games for the Soldotna Stars and Nikiski Bulldogs and a bye weekend for the Kenai Kardinals.
SoHi vs Colony @ Colony Friday, August 21 ESPN 1140AM
The Stars, following a victory over the 2014 large school state champion South Anchorage, continue play against large school opponents ( SoHi plays four large schools in the regular season) with a road game on Friday night against the Colony Knights.
The Stars rushed for over 300 yards behind Mason Prior, Kristian Palaniuk and Drew Gibbs; with Gibbs out of the mix, the Stars will call on a stable of running backs to fill in the Full-T backfield.
The Colony Knights from the Railbelt Conference in the large school classification opened the season last week with a 14-13 loss to East Anchorage.
The Stars vs Knights game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and will be broadcast on ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com
Nikiski vs Barrow @ Barrow Saturday, August 22 ESPN 1140AM
The Nikiski Bulldogs travel to Barrow for a small school divisional contest against the Whalers. In the new conference alignment, Nikiski is in the Peninsula Conference and Barrow in the Aurora Conference. The Bulldogs look to bounce-back from a non-divisional loss to Kodiak in week one 25-15; Barrow fell in week one to Juneau 26-20.
Nikiski’s ground attack is lead by Corin Cooper and Rykker Riddall, with Cade Anderson to Hunter Holloway leading the passing attack.
