Central peninsula football programs will attempt to take advantage of their respective home fields with week two of the high school football regular season featuring home contests for Soldotna, Kenai and Nikiski.
SoHi vs North Pole Friday, August 19th 6:00 p.m. Justin Maile Field
The Soldotna Stars, winners of 40-straight football games, will battle Southeast Conference opponent North Pole in a Medium School divisional game on Friday night at Soldotna High School.
The North Pole Patriots have qualified to the Medium School playoffs each of the last three seasons, since joining the division in 2013. North Pole dropped its season opener against Large School opponent Lathrop 36-0.
The Soldotna Stars opened the regular season with a 49-30 victory over then #1 Large School West Anchorage. The Stars amassed nearly 450 yards rushing and over 550 yards passing against the Eagles.
The SoHi vs West football contest is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start on Friday night at Soldotna High School.

Kenai vs Service Friday, August 19th 6:00 p.m. Ed Hollier Field
The Kenai Kardinals will look to bounce back from an opening loss on the road to South Anchorage with a home contest against a second Large School opponent in the Service High School Cougars.
The Service Cougars defeated West Valley in week one of the season 55-39.
The Kenai Kardinals dropped a 27-13 decision to South Anchorage in week one of the regular season; Kenai relying on its passing game for over 100 yards and a touchdown.
The Kenai vs Service football contest is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start on Friday night at Kenai Central High School.

Nikiski vs Thunder Mountain Saturday, August 20th 2:00 p.m. Nikiski High Field
The Nikiski Bulldogs, following a season-opening, road loss to Valdez 38-20, will host the Thunder Mountain Falcons on Saturday at Nikiski High School.
Thunder Mountain competes in the Medium School division of Alaska football and enters Saturday’s game following a decisive performance over Juneau in a scrimmage last week.
The Nikiski Bulldogs look to improve in week two against a Falcon team that is on the rise in high school football.
