The football season opener for the Kenai Kardinals and the Nikiski Bulldogs, a head-to-head pairing between the two decades-old rivals, has been modified to a scrimmage; Nikiski forfeiting the scheduled varsity contest.
The varsity game was originally scheduled for Friday, August 11th. Friday will now feature a scrimmage game between the Kardinals and Bulldogs beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs, according to head coach Paul Nelson, have forfeited the team’s first football game of the 2017 season due to early-season issues with player eligibility, including number of players and number of required practices.
