Football Opens Regular Season In Fairbanks and Mat-Su

The Kenai Peninsula, Anchorage, and Southeast Alaska high school football teams were shutout of regular season openers by coronavirus mandates and protocols which forced cancellations and rescheduling of planned football contests.

 

In the Mat-Su Valley and Fairbanks, five dominating performances on the field shutout five opponents on football’s opening weekend.

 

Five games were played in total for the weekend with three games on Friday night and a pair of games on Saturday.

Reigning Division III champion Houston was shutout by Division I Wasilla Warriors 33-0.

Division I Colony overpowered Division II Palmer 49-0.

In Fairbanks, Division II North Pole shut out Division III Eielson 34 -0.  D-III Monroe downed Valdez 36-0 and Division II Lathrop downed West Valley 57-0.
