The 2016 Alaska football playoff schedules are set with competition in three divisions of high school football.

Medium School Division Semi-Final

Soldotna vs North Pole     Saturday  1:00 p.m.  Palmer High School     ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com

The Soldotna Stars, the reigning and four-time Medium School football champion, advance to Saturday’s semi-final contest at Palmer High School to face the North Pole Patriots.  SoHi enters the game as the #1 seed from the Northern Lights Conference, 8-0 on the regular season and boosting an Alaska record 47 game winning streak.  North Pole earned the #2 seed from the Southeast Conference with a 3-5 overall record and one loss in conference play.

The Stars offense amassed over 3,100 total yards in eight games, including 2,500 rushing yards.  SoHi’s passing game accounted for over 650 yards and 15 touchdowns.  SoHi will be without regular season starting quarterback Brandon Crowder who suffered a broken foot in the Star’s final home game against the Kardinals.

The Stars face the Patriots on Saturday at Palmer High School with a scheduled 1:00 p.m. kick-off.

Palmer vs Thunder Mountain  Saturday    4:00 p.m.   Palmer High School

The second semi-final contest matches Palmer #2 in NLC against Thunder Mountain #1 in the SEC.  The Moose finished conference play at 3-1 with a lone loss to SoHi.  Thunder Mountain completed SEC play 3-0, 6-2 for the regular season.  Palmer vs Thunder Mountain scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Palmer High School.

Small School Division Semi-Final

Nikiski @ Eielson     Saturday  1:00 p.m.     KSRM 920AM and www.radiokenai.com

The Nikiski Bulldogs, Small School champions in 2013 and runner-up in 2015, travel to Eielson High School for a showdown with three-time and reigning Small School champion Eielson Ravens.  The Bulldogs dropped their season ending game to Seward 22-8 and earn the #2 seed for the Peninsula Conference, thus a road trip North for Nikiski.  The Bulldogs vs Eielson game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Eielson Air Force Base.

Seward vs Houston    Saturday 2:00 p.m.   Seward High

Seward, with a victory over Nikiski in week eight of the regular season, earn the #1 Peninsula Conference seed and the right to host Houston on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Seward High School.  The Seahawks earned the program’s first outright football conference championship as Seward closed the regular season with five-straight victories.
