Football Regular Season Extended For SoHi & Kenai Pairing: Playoff Formula Released

The Stars and Kardinals are back on the schedule with the re-scheduling of the SoHi-Kenai game to Friday, October 9th.

The game will be played at Soldotna High School’s Justin Maile Field with a 4 p.m. varsity game time.

The extension to the schedule developed with the ASAA football playoff schedule moving the Division II football opening round to October 17th and the ASAA Division II championship game moved to October 24th.

 

ASAA Football Playoff Update

Division III

The Division III football playoffs open competition on Saturday, October 10th with quarterfinal pairings.

Nikiski will host Houston in a playoff game featuring the reigning DIII state champion Houston and the #2 seed from the Peninsula, Nikiski.

Redington High School travels to Valdez to face the Aurora Conference #2 seed Buccaneers.

The Homer Mariners, #1 Peninsula Conference , and Monroe, #1 Aurora Conference receive first-round byes and will host semi-final round games on October 17th.

Division II

One berth will be allocated to Mat-Su, Kenai Peninsula, Fairbanks and Anchorage.

The semi-final playoff round will pair the Soldotna Stars, #1 seed from Kenai Peninsula, against Eagle River, the only DII school in the Anchorage School District.  The Stars will host the playoff game at Soldotna High School on October 17th.

Palmer High School, the only DII football school in the Mat-Su District, will travel to Fairbanks to play either Lathrop or West Valley on October 17th.

State Championships: October 24th

The location for the ASAA Division III and Division II football championship games will be determined based on the qualifying teams with the host sites to be announced following the semi-final games on October 17th.
