Football Week Seven Filled With All Conference Pairings And Playoff Positioning On The Line

The Kardinals return to Northern Lights Conference action on Friday night, on the road at Palmer, with an opportunity to clinch one of two NLC playoff spots with only two weeks remaining in the regular season.  Kenai stands at 2-0 in the NLC and will face a Palmer team that battled well against 2-0 SoHi; Palmer defeated Eagle River 43-13 last week.  The Kards have a 3-3 record, with all three losses to Large School division opponents.

The Stars travel to Eagle River for Northern Lights Conference football, the final road trip for SoHi in the regular season.  The Stars, 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in the NLC, look to extend their state-best winning streak of 45-straight in a Saturday afternoon game against 0-2 in NLC Eagle River.  The Stars shut out Kodiak in week six 42-0.

A rematch of the Small School state championship of 2015 is set for Nikiski High School on Saturday with the Peninsula Conference Bulldogs hosting the Aurora Conference Eielson Ravens.  Both teams are unbeaten in Small School games in 2016 and both have secured a playoff spot for the upcoming playoffs.  The Ravens have won four-straight pairings against the Bulldogs including three Small School state championship games in the past four seasons.  Nikiski vs Eielson, possibly a preview of the 2016 Small School championship game, set for Saturday at Nikiski High School.
