A former Alaska State Trooper Sergeant is waiting extradition to Alaska from Washington State after having been accused of stealing over $20,000 in cash from the Anchor Point Trooper Post, according to trooper dispatch.
Jeremy Stone was indicted in March by a Kenai Grand Jury for scheme to defraud, second-degree theft, and misapplication of property, with an additional misdemeanor charge of official misconduct to be charged later. An arrest warrant was issued with a bail of $10,000.
According to the online trooper dispatch, in May of last year, the Anchor Point Post discovered that a large amount of U.S. currency was missing from their evidence facility. The Financial Crimes Unit of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation subsequently conducted an audit of the evidence facility and discovered five items, totaling over $20,000 in cash, were missing. Investigation determined that Jeremy Stone was responsible.
U.S. Marshals assisted with locating and arresting Stone, and on August 21, Marshals from the Western District of Washington located and arrested Stone at a residence in Coupeville, Washington. He is currently still in Washington, awaiting extradition.
