A 52-year-old Soldotna man who used to work as a custodian at Skyview Middle School and Soldotna Middle School was arrested on Thursday following a decade-long investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of a minor dating back to 2013.
The Alaska State Trooper, Major Crimes Unit, arrested Alexander Coxwell in Soldotna on Thursday, Sep. 5. According to charging documents, the arrest stems from a recent investigation into three prior incidents involving incidents involving Coxwell in 2013, 2016, and 2018, all of which involved concerns of inappropriate relationships with students. The investigation found a report of an illegal sexual relationship between Coxwell and a 14-year-old student in 2013.
Charging documents say the relationship was reported by the parent of a friend of the student, who claimed the relationship had been going on for a year and that Coxwell had also provided the student with drugs and tobacco. During the investigation, the friend claimed that the student and Coxwell had engaged in intercourse multiple times.
The student was admitted to a health facility in Anchorage before law enforcement could monitor or record any of their conversations with Coxwell. The charging documents do not indicate any further investigation between 2013 and 2024.
Coxwell was remanded to Wildwood Pre-Trial Facility on three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree, three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree, and one count of Unlawful Exploitation of a Minor.
Soldotna Major Crimes Unit received assistance with the arrest following search warrants from AST Soldotna Patrol and the Kenai Police Department.
Based on the Alaska State Troopers investigation, Troopers believe that Coxwell may have additional victims. If you have relevant information that has not been shared with law enforcement, please contact the Alaska State Troopers at (907) 262-4453.
