The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for the Kenai Peninsula beginning this evening around 6 pm.
Meteorologist David Kramer with NWS…
Kramer: “Should be lightly snowing throughout the day throughout the Kenai Peninsula and then as warmer air approaches from the south, south of Clam Gulch should be warm enough to just transition over to rain, but as we go out through the evening hours, it’s going to stay a little bit colder on the surface for areas north of Clam Gulch including Kenai and we’re going to start to see some of that snow transition over to freezing rain.”
He said the advisory is until 12 noon Tuesday.
Kramer: “Only expecting about one to two tenths of an inch so not a whole lot, it should be pretty light but still enough ice accumulation to make the roads a little more hazardous.”
Kramer said it looks like the freezing rain event will not last too long.
Kramer: “It’s going to go back over to snow we just have this one push with this one coming up and then right behind that it gets cold enough again to where we’ll transition back over to snow.”
